Welcome to Punta
Chivato, Baja California Sur, Mexico. If you are interested in
purchasing property, a lot, a beautiful home, or just a little piece
of Paradise, you are at the right destination. Many large
parcels for development or investment are also available at Punta
Chivato.
Miles of sand beaches around
to the southwest of Punta Chivato invite shelling while estuaries,
tide pools and rocky reefs teeming with the vivid colors of tropical
fish beg beachcombers and divers alike to come and explore the beauty
beneath.
The first
residential development at Punta Chivato was near the hotel. These
homes are in the Punta Chivato
Homeowners Association.
Just a few years ago development
began along the beach southwest of the runway, with many more owners
and different concerns about development, water, trash, and so on.
These owners have formed the Playa Santa Ines Residents Association.
The Punta Chivato Yacht Club
began as a group of boating, fishing and water sports enthusiasts
interested in dock maintenance and boating safety, and now has more
than 150 members. The Chivato Pilots group has concerns about the
airport that is of limited interest to others.
Most of the owners and residents
of the Chivato area are involved in several of these groups.
A graded airstrip attracts private planes but
aviation fuel is not available on a regular basis. The turn-off to
Punta Chivato is at Kilometer 156 off Highway 1 between Santa Rosalia
and Mulegé, then 20 kilometers by graded road to the Point.
There is a small tienda (mini-store) at the west side of the Hotel
(Hotel Posada de las Flores Punta Chivato). Serious shopping has
to be done in Mulegé or Santa Rosalia.
